My Story
Many years ago, I started a candle business through direct marketing, and I truly enjoyed the experience. I participated in fundraising events and craft fairs, and while I made some money, a portion of the profits went to a cause close to my heart. I sent funds to Camotes Island in the Philippines, where my father was born, to purchase slippers for the children there. My aunt, a teacher on the island, organized the distribution with the help of my cousin. They were able to buy dozens of pairs and give them out to the children.
What touched me most was how many of the children kept the slippers in their packaging, saving them for a special occasion. These children had never owned shoes before, as their families couldn’t afford them. They even attended school barefoot. It broke my heart to see their struggles, and it became my personal promise to continue sharing whatever I could, no matter how small.

Unfortunately, the business didn't last long. I faced challenges, particularly with the shipping costs, and had to close it down.
Then, in 2022, I decided to revive the idea—this time with a fresh vision and a stronger determination. With the support of my husband, I launched Rissa’s Candles. It’s a dream reborn, and I’m more committed than ever to making a difference, one candle at a time.
